I attended student-led discussion last Thursday. We discussed about gambling in Casino: are Casino responsible for gambling? Someone thought that it's government's responsibility because government allow those Casinos to open. However, most of us thought that it's personal's responsibility because it's an individual choice. No one force them to gamble, on the other word, people who went to Casino were volenteers. I agreed with this opinion. Those people who went to Casino are adults, and they are mature enough to make a decision; therefore, they should take responsibility for their own choice.

Dream? It's weird, but funny

I find that I usually dream when I sleep well. I dream very much , so my friends often call me dreamers. Last night, I slept on my bed, and I began to dream. I dreamt that I am a golden fish, and everything surrounding me is water. I could not believe that I can breath in water.Wow! I was great. I looked around to know where I am, and I realize that I was in my house, a sandy house. After that, I saw my parents; actually, they also was fishes like me ^^. I heard that they call me : "Hieu, your breakfast was already, hurry up!". I swam quickly to have a breakfast. What! My breakfast? What was that! I looked closely to my breakfast. Oh my god! These were worms, my face changed the colour. I thought how I can eat them, but I was a fish now. I try to eat some, but it was delicious, the taste like a noddle soup that I often eat every morning. After I finished my breakfast, I had sat on chair ( do you imagine that how a fish can sit on a chair? ). My parents said to me:" If you won't hurry up, you would miss your class'. I thought: " What! I had to go to school?", but I obey to go to school, for I wanted to know how it was.
Left to my house, I saw a lot of kind of fishes such as whales, puffers, sharks,ect... . The fishes used the vehicle that look like a small rough box, and some of them used motorcycles that looked so funny. I looked around , and I realized some familiar face. They were exactly my friends, and they were seahorses. They swam so funny that made me laugh a lot. My friends said to me: " hey man! what are laughing for ?", I said "No, nothing, let's go to school guys".
After that, I woke up, and I felt very happy. I thought that sometimes people should have some silly dream like that because we can relax and happy with our dream. Although it is not logical, it can help you to remember or discover new things like the vehicles of the fishes ^^.

The Faculty of Fine Arts

Today, Pui and I went to see the Faculty of Fine Arts at York Universtiy. The festival will last until the end of the month. They will pick up 40 exciting and entertaining events: exhibitions, theatre and dance productions, film screenings, multimedia shows, and a wide variety of classical, jazz and world music concerts. Fortunately, today was Jazz Festival. We walked though the building and saw the showcasing. If we could wait until 7:00, we would watch a film. I recommend our classmates to go to the Faculty of Fine Arts.

Hi all, today I'd like to talk about the weather in Canada. When I first came to Canada, I was so excited about the snow as we don’t have any in Israel. After spending three winters here; however, I realized why Canadians keep complaining about the weather. It is indeed cold, extremely cold and unbelievably cold! Through those years I have learned to live in this kind of weather and even enjoy it, to some extent though! I have learned snowboarding and I really like it, although it was hard at first. I kept bumping into trees the first couple or three times. This year; however, I didn’t get the chance to go snowboarding or bumping into the trees, as I was too busy studying, doing my homework and working. As you already know, this year we got tons of snow, and as you can see from this picture we got enormous amounts of snow in Newmarket, it even covered the pool.

York Fine Arts Festival 08

Today, I would like to introduce an interested festival that is near YUELI. It is York Fine Arts Festival in The Faculty of Fine Arts. It shows many fields of arts that York University’s students created such as the woods exhibition, Jazz festival, Theatre@York Metamorposes. I went there with Xing xing after finishing class. We walked around to see art exhibition that it was free for every body. Unfortunately, we didn’t see a film because it started at 7.30 pm. The atmosphere in the building was not like Founder or Venier building that we are familiar with it. I would suggest that if you have time and interest in art, you should go there.The festival starts on March 11-31. Moreover, you can search more information by visiting www.yorku.ca/finearts/festival

Cambodian restaurant sreves Thai and Vietnamese foods?

Have never eaten Cambodian foods for almost two years, I extremely missed them. What am I going to do? Never heard about any Cambodian restaurants in Toronto, I absolutely doubt myself where I can find one. While buying dinner, I ran into one of my buddy, Tang, who is currently a freshman at Ryerson University. As my turn comes, I invited him for a dinner on Sunday evening, and let him decide the restaurant. "This time is going to be Vietnamese foods, but a brand new restaurant." Tang said. Thus, after finishing assignments and housework, I went to see him as where we had promised. Guess what? Tang brought me to the only Cambodian restaurant in Toronto calls "Angkor Restaurant", where he always has Vietnamese foods. However, not only surprised Tang by its name, the restaurant shocked me by its menu, which was listed all kinds of Vietnamese and Thai foods, but Cambodian foods. My dream of having Cambodian foods just slowly disappeared as I started go over the menu again and again. Disappointed by the restaurant, I suddenly was no longer hungry. Having no hesitation, we headed back home after a can of pop. That was an unpredictable and most ridiculous story I ever had in my entire life.

Plan for this semester

This semester might be my last semester in Yueli. After this semester, I will back to china and have great vacation there. However, there are still some unknow factors may happen which will break my hope. In order to sucessfully pass Level 6, I make a clear outline for next three month

First and the most important thing is try my best to improve the efficiency of my writing which means I need to improve not only my writing speed but also keep the quality of writing. Because I always need whole day to write my essay and repeat revising my work. I think the main problem is vocavulary. When i write essay, I always try to find the best vocabulary to build my sentence. However, this process usually cost much time. I was thinking about what if the in class writing coming, what shoud I do? should I follow my own process. If I follow my own process, the time will probably not enough. So, In this semester I will try my best to improve my writing skill, especially in calss writing. I think read more books about writing is a good way to improve my writing skill

Also, reading is also a very important element for future university students. whereas, I still feel that my reading skill is not strong, particularly reading speed. I think the most helpful way to boost reading skill is reading...reading reading reading...repeat reading everyday..The reading material can choose from newspaper, acadamic books but make sure the material is attractive to you, otherwise you canot concentrate on reading.

The easiest part of English is speaking.However, it is up to person. Somebody like speaking alot but somebody like keeping quiet. The first person usually get the increase of speaking ability faster than the second. As we all know that Yueli is a good place for students to practise thier speaking because students from different have to speak english to communicate with other students. For me, I'm a talktive person who like talikng around and maing friends from other countries. So, I think speaking will not be a barry for me.


My purpose is clear as you can see above. I hope with these methods above, i can sucessfully pass this course....:p

Last week, my friend bought a guinea pig from Pet store. Unfortunately, the guinea pig was sick on the third day, so my frined decided to take it to a vet. I went there with them. We went to a emergency hospital and also we didn't make any appointment with vets, so we had to wait for almost one hour. In the vet hospital, I realized how people love their pets. During that one hour, many people came with their cute patients, dogs, cat and even birds. An old couple were sitting beside us. They brought a beautiful yellow cocker. They told us, their dog was 6 years old. The dog had problems with its eyes, so the host wanted it to do the eye operation. When they told me the cost of the operation. I was shocked. I felt surprised that people could spend a lot of money for their pets. The dog for them is like a family memeber more than an animal. I believed that when people owned a pet, they became more responsible, patient and sympathetic.

Today(March 18th 2008) I couldn't go to school because I had a headache but after taking some medications I got better, so I went to school because I was the leader of the student led discussion. The topic was about early marriage and unfortunately just 10 students came to the discussion. In addition, we couldn't agree with each other again, even though we had a great discussion. After that, me and my friends decided to eat lunch and attend a lecture which was about Anthropology. The lecture was boring because the lecturer was talking about exams and these kinds of things which weren't that interesting for us because we were not her students. After lecture we went to karaoke. Even though, I don't like karaoke, we had a good time and we laughed a lot. Finally, we went to a Korean restaurant and we ate Sushi. This was my university life for this week, have a good night. what's after death??

Today, after the core class, I went to the students led discussion which was taliking about what going to hapeen after your death. Differnt student hold different point about because different belief. And becase of this sittuation, the discussion group was more like a confilict. person from differnt culture shouted in the class..somebody believes in christina and somebody believes in jesus. To be honest, I do not even know what were they talking about because debates without out any logical thinking. I was silent in the class because I believe in science, I do not have any comments about these superstious point like after death people's soul will still exit and turn out to be other forms of life such as animals. For me, it is so sample. After the death of human, the body will be become rotten day by day, then become dust which blowed by natural. Human born in nature then go back to nature again. However, I still learned something from this led discussion. The belief are very important to these people who believed in. And it is extremely unpolite to insult someone's religion. Take a example, like today's class, one students disagree with the belief from a girl, but they don't know they were doing inderectly insulting. The girl is innocent for sure, and keep explaining there is nothing wrong with her religion. Well, lets say she is right because no one do not think he or she' religion is perfect. Just different culture different views. Those guys who did insult other people's culture did not know they were hurting other groups Anyways, I think its better to be a none belief person....Sicence could be my belife. This led discusstion group could do well today. However, it should not denied that there will be no result for people to argue about religion.


....wow...I was looking for my work all the time in this blog....But i cannot find my work in our group blog. The reason was so simple. Because I thought If I write my journal in my blog it will appear in our group blog automatically....But I m wrong....sorry..dudes.....my bad

Hello everyone! I’m really glad to tell you a little bit about my incredible trip to the “island where spring has come already!!!!!!”…….  The Toronto Flower and Garden Festival which took place this week at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. It was unforgettable event, especial for this people who like flowers and everything related to gardening!!!!!! Thousand and thousand various flowers which wonder people’s eyes by all possible colours and shapes were exposed there. Moreover, this place was overcrowded by numerous friendly and smiling people who walked around with their relatives, children or friends. I really enjoyed a great time because, as I said before, at that place everyone forgot about cold and still snowy weather nevertheless it is almost middle of March. Even more, I recommend everyone to visit this place next year since you will get so “sunny mood” that will last for a long-long time! Of course, you’ll buy a little or maybe even more than little ‘live present”. I did so….. 
